The children have free access to the outside area for most of the session. Outside play is equally as important as inside play and the children can access the full Foundation Stage curriculum outside. The outside area has a digging patch which gives the children the chance to explore how things grow through gardening. Large climbing apparatus is always available and the children have access to a wide range of wheeled toys. The outside area also offers small apparatus such as bean bags, bats and balls and stilts. |

The outside area offers the opportunity for exploration and discovery through a variety of resources which include the use of natural and man-made materials, ramps, slopes, pulleys, magnifying viewers and metal detectors. Construction is freely available outside and the children have the opportunity to construct on a large scale. The outside is used for imaginative play, e.g. a garage, station or shop. |
